Having met some of the local club members at the Cotswold show one, of the things they offered was a ‘taster’ day to find out more about what it means to be a bee keeper and actually visit some of their hives. I couldn’t resist and even my wife agreed to go along although she’s always been a bit nervous about  wasps and bees.

The day was hugely popular and attendance was high. We got to learn a bit about bees and hive management and the visit to the hives was exciting. They’re such amazing creatures. One of the options the club offers is what they call their HOT Bees program. ‘HOT’ stands for Hands On Training and it’s where you can buy your bees from the club and over a two year period they’ll teach you the basics (and more) of beekeeping.
